Why node interfaces are getting deleted

Hi team,

opennms 1.13.1

Suddenly interfaces of the node got deleted as ICMP service was down for 7 days though devices were reachable in actual.

How can we disable it so that interfaces will not get deleted?

So you have to check two things, in poller-configuration.xml there should be a default setting which deletes services after several days of downtime. This default setting is meanwhile changed cause the version you have running is about 5 years old. The current setting in the downtime model does not delete services which can be seen here: http://docs.opennms.org/opennms/releases/24.1.1/guide-admin/guide-admin.html#ga-service-assurance-downtime-model.

Thank you for the update.

I have made below changes in poller-configuration.xml file and remove the downtime line.

Original configuration:

I have made few changes as below:

Remove below line from /opt/opennms/etc/imports/space.xml as guided by opennms team so that interfaces should not get deleted.

     <monitored-service service-name="ICMP"/>
     <monitored-service service-name="SNMP"/>
  • Disabled the downtime so that it should not deleted the existing interfaces of the device in /opt/opennms/etc/poller-configuration.xml file by commenting below line.

But still interfaces are getting deleted.

How can we disable it?

Thanks in advance.

default poller-configuration.xml file as below:

<downtime interval="30000" begin="0" end="300000" /><!-- 30s, 0, 5m -->
<downtime interval="300000" begin="300000" end="43200000" /><!-- 5m, 5m, 12h -->
<downtime interval="600000" begin="43200000" end="432000000" /><!-- 10m, 12h, 5d -->
<downtime begin="432000000" delete="true" /><!-- anything after 5 days delete -->
