Monitor Microsoft SQL Services

Microsoft SQL Monitoring

If you have specific (non-default) SQL instances, you can monitor them as below. Substitute INSTANCENAME with the instance name on the server. If you are monitoring the defauly instance, omit $INSTANCENAME from the service name.

Make the following additions to $OPENNMS_HOME/etc/poller-configuration.xml

 <service name="MSSQL$INSTANCENAME" interval="3000000"
            user-defined="false" status="on">
            <parameter key="retry" value="2"/>
            <parameter key="timeout" value="3000000"/>
            <parameter key="port" value="161"/>
            <parameter key="service-name" value="MSSQL$INSTANCENAME"/>
 </service>
 <monitor service="MSSQL$INSTANCENAME" class-name="org.opennms.netmgt.poller.monitors.Win32ServiceMonitor"/>

 <service name="SQLBrowser" interval="3000000"
            user-defined="false" status="on">
            <parameter key="retry" value="2"/>
            <parameter key="timeout" value="3000000"/>
            <parameter key="port" value="161"/>
            <parameter key="service-name" value="SQLBrowser"/>
 </service>
 <monitor service="SQLBrowser" class-name="org.opennms.netmgt.poller.monitors.Win32ServiceMonitor"/>
